Pakistan is the 14th largest producer and 18th largest exporter of potatoes with an annual production of 7.74 million tons. The annual local requirement is 3.35 million tons and the rest is available for exports. In 2021 Pakistan exported potatoes of about 0.4 million tons to many markets of the world that include Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, UAE, Russia, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, and Iraq, etc. There are many varieties cultivated in Pakistan that include Constance, Vogue, Kuroda, Esmee, Rudolph Santé (Mozika), Arizona, Meryem, etc. However, Rudolph Sante (Mozika) has the highest demand for export. The main cultivation areas are Okara, Depalpur and Sahiwal. The potatoes cultivated in Pakistan are used for cooking and for making chips, fries, flakes, powder, and other processed food. TOMATO
The tomato is a small, soft, red fruit that is used in cooking as a vegetable or eaten raw in salads. Major varieties are Roma, Rio Grande, Sahil, FM-9, Topsin M., Beef tomato, and Cherry tomato. In 2022, Pakistan exported $1.5M in Tomatoes. The main destinations of Pakistan exports on Tomatoes were Afghanistan ($1.11M), Tajikistan ($391k), United Arab Emirates ($1.34k), and Maldives ($324). Due to varying climatic conditions, there is a wide range of sowing times for tomatoes in Pakistan.
